If you run a fashion brand, you know the feeling. A customer falls for a piece online, hits buy, and a week later it's back in a returns bag because it didn't fit.

On Sunday 20 September, during London Fashion Week, we took that problem into a room full of the people who live with it every day.

The invite

Asante Entertainment and 100 Family invited us to the Reimagined Fashion Runway Show at Fire in Vauxhall. Haleem, Frank and Hammed went along for Fasholute, suited, booted and ready to listen.

A massive thank you to Asante for having us. For a young fashion tech company, being welcomed into London's fashion scene means a lot.

What we saw

Amazing pieces, one after another. The kind of work that makes a room go quiet.

Watching the runway, one thought kept coming back. Every one of those pieces deserves to end up with someone it actually fits. Online, that's exactly where things fall apart. Shoppers can't try anything on, so they guess, and every wrong guess comes back as a return.

What the designers told us

After the show, we spoke to designers about what we're building. The feedback on virtual try-on was really positive.

That matters to us, because designers are the toughest audience there is. They care how a piece looks on a real body, not on a mannequin. Hearing them get excited about shoppers seeing their work on themselves before buying was the highlight of our night.

What this means for your brand

If you sell clothes online, here's what we took home from the night.

  • Your shoppers want to see it on themselves. A great product photo sells the piece. It doesn't tell her how it'll look on her.
  • Fit is the conversation. Nobody in that room needed returns explained. The question was always how to stop them.
  • The fix can be simple. With Fasholute, a shopper taps Try it on, adds one photo and sees your item on herself, with a size suggestion to match. It's live on the Shopify App Store, works on Wix and installs with one line of code.

Why it matters to us

An invite isn't revenue, and we know that. But it follows a pattern. At London Streetwear Market, we showed brands their own personalised demo stores, and seven of them booked calls with us afterwards. Now designers at Fashion Week are telling us the same thing: this is a problem worth solving.

Thank you again to Asante Entertainment and 100 Family. To every designer we spoke to: we'll be in touch.
